App for the Distracted
SelfControl for Mac has helped me a ton the last few days. If you’re like I am, it can be easy to check on Twitter, Facebook, email, or CNN sporadically throughout the day, breaking up focus and distracting me multiple times a day.
This application allows you to create a blacklist of domain names that distract you the most, and then set a timer to keep you from visiting those sites or accessing content from those domains through other applications. (Even restarting your computer won’t help you.) Set any increment from 15 minutes to 24 hours.
